My room was simple but comfortable — clean wooden furnishings, decent-sized windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how rare that’s becoming), and everything you need without the clutter. The beds are firm, which I personally love after a day of hiking, and the heating works well, which matters more than you’d think in the Carpathians. There’s no fancy mini-bar or coffee machine, but there’s a sense of coziness that makes you want to just sit and read for a while.

The on-site restaurant serves traditional Hutsul cuisine, and you know what — it’s the real deal. I’m talking proper banosh (that’s polenta with cheese and bacon), fresh trout from local streams, and homemade bread that arrives warm at your table. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the staff actually seems to care about what they’re serving you. Breakfast is included and features local specialties alongside the usual eggs and bread.
