What I love about Donovaly is that it’s not trying to compete with the bigger ski resorts, but Villa Gardenia puts you right where you want to be anyway. You’re actually walking distance to the ski lifts in winter, and during summer, those hiking trails basically start from your doorstep. The village itself has this authentic Slovak mountain town vibe — you know, the kind where you can grab fresh bread from the local bakery and nobody’s speaking English unless they really have to.

My room was simple but thoughtfully done — clean lines, decent-sized windows that actually frame the surrounding hills, and everything you need without the clutter.
