I had the bryndzové halušky (potato dumplings with sheep cheese) that was probably the best I’ve tried in Slovakia. Don’t expect fancy presentations — this is hearty, authentic mountain food that hits the spot after a day of hiking.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you’re expecting a polished chain hotel experience, this isn’t it. But that’s exactly why it works. You’re staying in a piece of living history in one of Europe’s best-preserved folk villages. The staff genuinely cares about sharing their culture, and you’ll probably end up chatting with other guests over dinner — something that rarely happens at bigger hotels. The parking is free (a nice touch), and the hiking trails literally start from the hotel’s doorstep. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though it’s been hiding in plain sight for centuries.
