Curtea Brasoveana Overview
First Impressions
Curtea Brasoveana sits tucked away on Bailor Street, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. The entrance has this understated elegance that I actually prefer to those flashy hotel facades — it feels more like you’re being welcomed into someone’s beautifully restored home. The staff greeted me in Romanian first, then switched to English with genuine warmth, not that rehearsed hospitality you get at chain hotels.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about this spot? You’re close enough to Braşov‘s old town to walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually sleep at night. I discovered a little bakery two blocks away where locals grab their morning coffee — the kind of place you’d never find if you stayed in the main square. The four-star rating feels right for the area; it’s polished without trying too hard to impress.
The Room
My room had these beautiful wooden beams that reminded me why I love staying in historic buildings. The bathroom was modern (thank goodness), but they kept original details like the thick walls and arched doorways. There’s actually decent space to spread out your stuff, which isn’t always a given in European hotels. The bed was firm — I mean really firm — so if you like soft mattresses, maybe mention that when you book.
Dining & Atmosphere
The restaurant downstairs serves Romanian dishes that go beyond the typical tourist menu. I had this lamb stew that the server recommended, and it was honestly better than what I’d eaten at fancier places in Bucharest. Breakfast happens in the same space, and while it’s not a huge buffet, everything feels fresh and locally sourced. The dining room gets pretty cozy in the evenings — lots of locals come in for dinner, which is always a good sign.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Curtea Brasoveana apart is how it manages to feel both historic and comfortable. You’re not sacrificing modern conveniences for character, which happens a lot in these restored buildings. The 9.3 rating makes sense once you spend a night here — it’s those little touches like remembering your name at breakfast or suggesting the best route to avoid crowds at Bran Castle. Plus, there’s parking available, which anyone who’s driven through Romanian city centers will appreciate.

Perfect location of accommodation. The staff is very friendly and professional. 10 minutes walk to the center. Breakfast was more than enough. I recommend the accommodation as well as a visit to the city of Brasov. I was most positively...
