When I first pulled up to Hazanéző Panzió on Új utca in Corund, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this little Romanian village. But you know what? The panzió benefits from this genuine cultural atmosphere without feeling touristy or manufactured. Walking around in the evening, you’ll hear Hungarian being spoken more than Romanian (this is Székely Land, after all), and the traditional architecture gives you that feeling of stepping back in time.

The Accommodation

My room was surprisingly spacious for a village guesthouse, with traditional wooden furniture that actually felt authentic rather than themed. The owners clearly put thought into the details — quality linens, excellent Wi-Fi (which matters when you’re working remotely), and windows that frame the surrounding hills perfectly. What struck me most was how quiet everything was; you don’t realize how much city noise you carry in your head until it’s completely gone.

Local Flavors

The breakfast here deserves its own mention — none of that continental buffet nonsense. Instead, you get homemade bread, local jams, and eggs from chickens you can probably hear clucking outside. The hosts know their way around traditional Hungarian dishes, and if you’re lucky enough to be there during pottery festival season, they’ll point you toward the best local restaurant (there aren’t many, but the ones that exist are gems).
