This four-star property sits right in the heart of the High Tatras, and you know what? The location absolutely delivers on that mountain resort promise. The building itself has that Alpine charm without being too rustic — clean lines, warm wood, and those massive windows that frame the peaks beautifully.

The resort is positioned in Starý Smokovec, which honestly might be one of Slovakia’s best-kept secrets for mountain lovers. You’re literally steps away from the funicular that takes you up to Hrebienok — I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be on the trails. The whole area has this old-world spa town vibe, with grand hotels from the Habsburg era mixed in with newer developments. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings, yet you’re still close enough to walk to restaurants and that charming little railway station.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment I stayed in was spacious — much more room than your typical hotel setup. The kitchenette was actually functional (not just decorative like some places), with a proper stovetop and decent-sized fridge. The living area had this cozy mountain lodge feel, with comfortable seating where you can actually relax after a day of hiking. My room had views toward the forest, and I loved falling asleep to complete silence — well, except for the occasional owl or whatever was rustling around outside.

Amenities and Dining

There’s a sauna on-site, which became my evening ritual after long days exploring the trails — nothing beats that post-hike heat session. The restaurant serves solid Slovak mountain cuisine; their goulash was exactly what I needed after climbing around Skalnaté pleso. Parking is included, which you’ll definitely appreciate since having a car opens up so much more of the Tatras region. The staff speaks English well enough, though brushing up on a few Slovak phrases definitely earned me some smiles.
