Tucked into the slopes of the Carpathians in Yablunytsya, this three-star gem sits quietly away from Bukovel’s main bustle — which, honestly, turned out to be exactly what I needed. The building has this understated alpine charm that doesn’t try too hard, and the fact that it’s consistently earning a 9.9 rating starts making sense the second you walk through the doors.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re close enough to Bukovel’s ski runs that you don’t feel disconnected, but far enough away that you actually get some peace in the evenings. Yablunytsya itself is this authentic Carpathian village where locals still go about their daily lives, which means you’ll see actual Ukrainian mountain culture instead of just tourist spots. The hotel provides shuttle service to the main resort (they’re pretty reliable about it), but I’d recommend having your own transport if you plan to explore the area properly.
The Accommodation Experience
My room was nothing fancy, but everything worked perfectly — and I mean everything. The heating kept up with those February nights when temperatures dropped well below freezing, the hot water never ran out (crucial after a day on the slopes), and the Wi-Fi was surprisingly solid for a mountain location. The furnishings are simple but comfortable, with those thick Carpathian-style blankets that make you want to curl up with a book. There’s also a small kitchenette area that’s actually useful if you pick up supplies from the local shops.
Dining & Local Flavors
The on-site restaurant serves traditional Ukrainian mountain food that’ll stick to your ribs — think hearty stews, fresh bread, and some of the best borscht I’ve had outside of my grandmother’s kitchen. The portions are generous (maybe too generous if you’re planning afternoon skiing), and they source a lot of ingredients locally. Breakfast is included and actually worth getting up for, with proper coffee and local dairy products that taste like they came from farms down the valley — because they probably did.
