Zatishok Bilya Richky is one of those places you stumble upon and immediately think “how did I get so lucky?” This unique boutique hotel without official star rating sits right alongside the Rika River in Pilipets, and honestly, the setting alone makes it worth the trip. The name literally means “cozy spot by the river” in Ukrainian, and they weren’t kidding around with that description.

Location & Setting

You know what struck me first? The sound of running water everywhere. The Carpathian Mountains rise up around you, and there’s this constant, gentle soundtrack of the river flowing past. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the main Pilipets village center, but you’re far enough away that you actually feel like you’ve escaped civilization. The hiking trails start practically from the hotel’s backyard, which is perfect if you’re into that sort of thing.

The Accommodations

My room had this rustic-modern vibe that actually worked — exposed wooden beams, but with proper Wi-Fi and a decent shower. The windows are huge, and I mean floor-to-ceiling huge, so you wake up to mountain views that’ll make you forget about checking your phone for at least five minutes. Some rooms have little balconies that hang right over the water, though I’d recommend requesting one of those when you book.

Dining & Atmosphere

The on-site restaurant focuses on Carpathian cuisine, and their trout is ridiculous — they literally catch it from the river outside. I’m not usually big on fish, but when it’s that fresh and they grill it with local herbs, it’s hard to complain. The dining area has these massive windows too, so you’re basically eating with a mountain panorama as your backdrop. They also do a solid job with traditional Ukrainian dishes if you’re feeling adventurous.

Look, this isn’t a place where you’ll find a fancy spa or valet parking — it’s more about disconnecting and actually enjoying where you are. The staff genuinely cares about making sure you have a good time, and they know the area well enough to point you toward the best hiking spots or local experiences.
