Being in Sohodol instead of right in Bran village is actually brilliant — you avoid the tourist buses but still get to the castle in minutes when you want to. The real bonus though is having the Piatra Craiului National Park practically at your doorstep. I did some hiking trails that started basically from the hotel parking area, and barely saw another soul all morning.
