Here’s the thing about Smokovce — most people rush through to get to the bigger tourist spots, but this little town is actually perfectly positioned for exploring the High Tatras without the crowds. The villa sits in what locals call the quieter part of town, and I mean that in the best way possible. You can walk to the main area in about ten minutes, but when you want to escape back to your room, you’re in this peaceful bubble. The train connections to other parts of Slovakia are surprisingly good from here too.

I stayed in one of their standard rooms, and honestly, it felt anything but standard.
