Treedom sits quietly on Súhradská street in Prievidza, and honestly, the name gives you a pretty good hint about what you’re walking into. This three-star place has this understated charm that hits you right when you step inside — it’s not trying to be flashy, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup. The lobby feels more like someone’s really nice living room than a typical hotel entrance, which I actually found refreshing after dealing with those sterile chain places.

The Room Experience

My room was surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in this price range, and the design really does lean into that nature theme without going overboard with it. The beds are properly comfortable — you know, the kind where you don’t wake up with a crick in your neck — and the bathroom was modern enough that I didn’t feel like I was stepping back in time. What really got me was the attention to small details, like decent lighting for reading and enough outlets that I wasn’t playing musical chairs with my chargers.

Location & Getting Around

Prievidza isn’t exactly Slovakia’s tourist hotspot, but that’s sort of the point if you’re looking to experience something more authentic. The hotel’s location puts you within walking distance of the town center, and I mean actual walking distance — not that “15-minute walk” that turns into half an hour. There’s parking available, which is honestly a relief because finding a spot in these smaller Slovak towns can be trickier than you’d think. Plus, if you’re planning day trips to the surrounding countryside, you’re perfectly positioned.

Food & Atmosphere

The on-site restaurant surprised me in the best way possible. I went in with pretty modest expectations, but the food was genuinely good — like, I-came-back-for-dinner-the-next-night good. They focus on Slovak dishes with a modern twist, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. The staff actually seems to care about what they’re doing, which you can taste in the food and feel in the service.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.8 rating, Treedom is clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it. It’s not about having the fanciest amenities or the most Instagram-worthy lobby — it’s about getting the fundamentals right and then adding those thoughtful touches that make you feel looked after. The whole place has this calm, grounded vibe that’s perfect if you want to unwind without feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere. For the price point, you’re getting way more personality and genuine hospitality than you’d find at most places in this category.
