This three-star property sits in what locals call “kopaničiarska” country — basically small settlements scattered across the hillsides where families traditionally kept their livestock. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the main road, which might sound inconvenient, but actually gives you that proper escape-from-everything feeling that’s hard to find these days.

Inside the Cottage

The room I stayed in had these thick wooden beams overhead and traditional Slovak textiles everywhere — but not in a cheesy, tourist-trap way. Everything felt genuine and well-maintained. The bathroom was modern enough (thank goodness), though the shower had that quirky European setup where you really need to master the handheld sprayer. I mean, it works perfectly fine once you get the hang of it, but don’t expect a rainfall showerhead or anything fancy like that.

Local Experience

What really sets this place apart is how the owners — I think they’re a local family — actually know the area inside and out. They pointed me toward hiking trails I never would have found on my own, including this incredible viewpoint about 45 minutes up the hill where you can see clear across the Myjava region on a good day. The breakfast spread featured homemade bread, local honey, and what I’m pretty sure were eggs from their own chickens. Simple stuff, but incredibly fresh and satisfying after a morning walk.

Look, if you’re expecting room service, a spa, or even a proper restaurant on-site, this isn’t your place. But if you want to experience rural Slovakia the way it actually is — not some sanitized version — then this cottage delivers something genuinely special. The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense when you realize what they’re actually offering: authentic hospitality, complete peace and quiet, and a chance to disconnect from the usual travel routine. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll find yourself sitting on the porch longer than planned, just watching the landscape change colors as the sun sets.
