The Wi-Fi actually works, which isn’t always a given in rural Romania, and there’s plenty of storage space for longer stays.

Here’s what surprised me most: the breakfast spread. For a small operation in the middle of nowhere, they really go all out. Fresh bread from the village bakery, local cheeses I’d never tried before, and this incredible homemade jam situation. The staff pointed me toward a family-run place about ten minutes’ walk away that serves traditional ciorbă that’ll ruin you for restaurant versions. You know what though — half the fun is just wandering around and discovering these little gems yourself.
