First Impressions

When I first pulled up, honestly, the name makes perfect sense — this four-star property looks like something out of a winter fairy tale, even in summer. Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally in the heart of Donovaly’s ski area, but it doesn’t feel crowded or touristy. The lifts are practically at your doorstep, which means you can ski back to the hotel at the end of the day (I mean, how cool is that?). During summer, those same slopes turn into hiking and biking trails, and the views… well, let’s just say your Instagram feed will thank you.

The Room Experience

My room had this perfect balance of mountain charm and modern comfort. The beds are seriously comfortable — none of that stiff hotel mattress nonsense — and the windows frame the surrounding peaks beautifully. What surprised me was how quiet everything was; you’d think being so close to the ski area would mean noise, but at night it’s incredibly peaceful. The bathrooms are well-designed too, with good water pressure (always important after a day on the slopes).

Dining & Atmosphere

The on-site restaurant actually serves some of the best Slovak mountain cuisine I’ve had. They do this incredible goulash that’s perfect after being outside all day, and their schnitzel is huge — easily shareable if you’re not absolutely starving. The dining room has these big windows overlooking the valley, so even meals feel like an experience. Staff here genuinely seem to enjoy their work, which makes a difference in how welcome you feel.
