The name means “mitten” in Ukrainian, which is oddly perfect once you see how cozy and intimate this place actually is. You know what struck me immediately? The attention to detail in every single corner, from the handcrafted wooden sign to the way they’ve preserved original architectural elements while making everything feel completely modern.

Location & Mountain Views

Being in Yaremche means you’re basically at the gateway to the Carpathians, and this unique boutique hotel without official star rating takes full advantage of that. From most windows, you get these incredible mountain views that change throughout the day — I mean, I found myself just standing there with my morning coffee watching the mist roll off the peaks. The Prut River is literally a two-minute walk away, and you can hear it from the room if you open the windows (which I definitely recommend doing).

The Rooms & Design

Each room feels completely different — they’ve clearly put thought into making this feel like a collection of unique spaces rather than cookie-cutter hotel rooms. Mine had this beautiful mix of traditional Hutsul patterns and contemporary furniture that somehow worked perfectly together. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and they’d stocked it with locally-made toiletries that smelled like pine and herbs. What really got me was the little reading nook by the window — perfect spot to plan your hiking routes or just decompress after a day in the mountains.

Food & Local Character

The restaurant downstairs serves some of the best Carpathian cuisine I’ve had, period. They source ingredients from local farms, and you can taste the difference — especially in their mushroom dishes and the house-made syrnyky. The staff actually knows the names of the farmers they work with, which tells you something about how they approach hospitality here. Breakfast isn’t a buffet situation; instead, they prepare everything fresh and bring it to your table, making it feel more like you’re staying with incredibly thoughtful hosts.

Look, if you want a massive resort with every amenity imaginable, this isn’t your place. But if you’re looking for somewhere that feels authentic and personal — where the owners clearly care about creating something special — then Рукавичка really delivers. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you experience how they’ve managed to balance traditional Ukrainian hospitality with modern comfort. Plus, having a base this comfortable makes all the difference when you’re spending your days hiking or exploring the region and want somewhere genuinely restful to come back to.
