Walking into Royal City Centre Apartment on Námestie svätého Egídia, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a typical European building from the outside. But you know what? This apartment-style accommodation completely changed my mind about staying in Poprad. The entrance feels more like stepping into someone’s well-appointed home than a sterile hotel lobby, which actually works in its favor.

Location & The Poprad Advantage

Here’s the thing about Poprad — most people just see it as a jumping-off point for the High Tatras, but the city center has this understated charm that grows on you. Being right on Saint Egidius Square means you’re literally in the heart of everything, and I mean everything you’d actually want to do here. The main pedestrian zone is right outside your door, and those morning walks to grab coffee become part of the whole experience.

What struck me most was how this four-star place manages to feel both upscale and homey at the same time. The room I stayed in had this perfect balance — modern fixtures and quality furnishings, but none of that cold, corporate hotel vibe. Actually, calling it a room doesn’t do it justice since you get proper living space to spread out. The kitchen setup is genuinely useful too, not just some token kitchenette that nobody uses.

You can either grab breakfast at the nearby restaurant options (there are several good ones within a two-minute walk) or make your own coffee and enjoy it while looking out over the square. The parking situation is actually sorted, which anyone who’s driven through European city centers will appreciate — it’s one less thing to stress about when you’re trying to enjoy your stay.
