When I first pulled up to Residence Hotel in Donovaly, I’ll be honest — it felt more like arriving at a friend’s mountain retreat than checking into a typical hotel. I spent one morning just wandering the village center, grabbing coffee at the local spots that most tourists never find.

The Room Experience

My room was spacious in that way mountain hotels do well — not cramped like city places, but thoughtfully laid out with plenty of storage for ski gear or hiking equipment. The best part, though, was definitely the view from my window. I mean, waking up to those rolling hills covered in snow (this was February) never got old during my three-day stay. Breakfast was substantial enough to fuel a full day outdoors, with local cheeses and meats that actually tasted like they came from nearby farms.
