When I first walked up to Plaza35 on Strada Oituz, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside. It’s tucked into what feels like a residential area, which actually turned out to be one of its best features. This four-star property has that boutique feel where you’re not dealing with tour groups crowding the lobby, and the staff genuinely seems to remember your name after the first day.
Location & Getting Around
The location is pretty clever, actually. You’re far enough from the tourist chaos of Sibiu’s old town to get proper sleep, but it’s still walkable — maybe 15 minutes to the main square if you don’t mind a pleasant stroll. What I really appreciated was having actual neighborhoods around you, with local cafes and shops that aren’t just selling overpriced souvenirs. There’s decent parking too, which anyone who’s driven in Romanian city centers will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Room Experience
My room was larger than I expected — these aren’t cramped European hotel boxes. The design feels contemporary without trying too hard, and honestly, the bed was spot-on for someone like me who’s picky about firmness. The bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually worked (you know how hit-or-miss hotel showers can be), and there were enough outlets positioned where you’d actually want to use them.
Food & Dining
The breakfast spread surprised me — it’s not just the usual continental setup. They had local cheeses and meats that you’d struggle to find in bigger chain hotels, plus they actually know how to make decent coffee. There isn’t a full restaurant on-site for dinner, but the staff pointed me toward some great local spots within walking distance, which I actually preferred over eating hotel food every night.
