Penzion Víno Hruška Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Penzion Víno Hruška in Veselí nad Moravou, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The name literally translates to “Wine Pear,” which honestly sets the tone perfectly — it’s got this charming, family-run feel that you just can’t manufacture. The building sits quietly on Národních Mučedníků street, and while it might not look like much from the outside, that’s actually part of its appeal.
The Room Experience
My room was spotless — I mean really spotless in that way that tells you someone actually cares about this place. The furnishings are simple but comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly. You know what I appreciated most? The windows actually open wide, and in summer that cross-breeze is worth its weight in gold. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, which matters more than you’d think in smaller Czech towns.
Location and Getting Around
Veselí nad Moravou sits right where the Morava and Olšava rivers meet, and honestly, it’s one of those spots that feels properly Czech without the tourist crowds. The penzion is maybe a ten-minute walk from the town center, close enough that you can easily explore but far enough that you’re not dealing with any noise. If you’re planning day trips, you’re actually well-positioned — Brno is about an hour by car, and the wine regions around here are fantastic.
The Wine Connection
Here’s where things get interesting — this three-star place takes its wine seriously. The owners clearly know their stuff, and if you ask nicely, they’ll point you toward some excellent local vintages. South Moravia produces some of the Czech Republic’s best wines, and staying here puts you right in the heart of it. I ended up discovering a few bottles I’d never heard of, which made the whole trip feel more authentic than just hitting the usual tourist spots.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a place with a fancy spa or elaborate breakfast spread, but that 9.1 rating tells the real story. People come back because it feels genuine — the kind of place where someone remembers your name and asks how your day went. The price point is honestly refreshing after dealing with Prague hotel rates, and you get the sense you’re experiencing a slice of real Czech hospitality. It’s perfect if you want to explore this part of Moravia without breaking the bank or dealing with corporate hotel nonsense.

Guest Reviews
Toll Bells from a Church
It was located right outside the train station so easy to commute to different cities, the staff were really helpful and friendly and made my stay very easy. The rooms were very clean and tidy also.
Friendly English speaking gals. There was a stairway, but the girls were a big help with our bikes and panniers. Grocery stores nearby. Very quiet.
Enough breakfast
What could be improved: nothing
Location, staff, cleaning, facilities
Clean, newer property with exceptional staff. Sonya and all the young ladies were wonderful! What could be improved: Beds was not great. Had a split mattress and comforters. No breakfast really, hot dogs and beans, very little fruit. Hot water...
Vše ok, i možnost koupit si jejich výborné víno.
Čisto, příjemný personál. Vinotéka a vína super. Pokud to půjde, příště se určitě ubytujeme znovu.
Snídaně pomocí rautu, teplá i studená, pestrá, podle chuti a výběru. Vnitřní parkoviště i kolárna. Lokalita na cyklo přímo stvořená.
What could be improved: Nebylo tam výraznějších chyb, v okolí bylo snad méně restaurací, ale to není chyba penzionu.
Výborná poloha ubytování naproti vlakovému a autobusovému nádraží, možnost degustace vína ve vinotéce
