When I first pulled up to NOAH river house, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t look like your typical hotel. This four-star property sits right along the Danube in Orşova, and there’s something almost residential about it that immediately puts you at ease. The building has this modern yet understated design that somehow fits perfectly with the riverfront setting, and you can tell right away that someone put real thought into making this place feel special.

Location & Setting

The location is honestly what sold me on this place. Orşova isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot — it’s this quiet Romanian town where the Danube cuts through some pretty dramatic landscapes. You’ve got the Iron Gates nearby, which is where the river narrows between Romania and Serbia, creating these incredible gorges. Most people just pass through on their way somewhere else, but staying here actually gives you time to appreciate how stunning this stretch of the Danube really is.

The Accommodation

My room overlooked the water, and I spent way too much time just watching the river traffic go by. The space itself was modern and clean — not flashy, but everything worked perfectly. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well-designed, and there were these thoughtful touches like good lighting for reading and plenty of outlets where you actually need them. You know what I mean — little things that show they understand what travelers want.

Dining & Atmosphere

The restaurant here surprised me in the best way. I wasn’t expecting much from a smaller property in a town like this, but the food was genuinely good. They focus on local ingredients and Romanian dishes, but done with a modern touch that doesn’t feel pretentious. The dining area looks out over the water too, so dinner becomes this relaxing experience where you’re watching the light change on the river while you eat.
