Hills View Apartment sits in the Šafran apartment complex in Donovaly, and honestly, the name doesn’t lie — you really do get those mountain views. I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place, but this apartment setup surprised me in the best way. The building itself is pretty typical for Slovak mountain resorts, but there’s something refreshing about having your own space instead of being crammed into a hotel corridor.
The Space That Works
What I love about staying here is that you get a proper kitchen — not some tiny kitchenette, but actual counter space and appliances that work. The room layout feels thoughtfully planned, with separate sleeping and living areas that make longer stays totally doable. You know what really got me? The windows. They’re positioned just right to catch those Donovaly peaks, especially in the morning when the light hits them perfectly.
Location & Getting Around
Donovaly is this sweet spot between the Low Tatras that locals have known about forever, but it’s not overrun with tour buses yet. The ski slopes are literally a few minutes away, and in summer, those same hills become hiking territory that’ll make your Instagram followers jealous. There’s decent parking right at the complex, which — trust me — matters a lot when you’re hauling ski gear or groceries up here in winter.
What Makes It Special
The 9.6 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — I can see why people keep coming back. The apartment stays warm even when it’s brutal outside (and Slovak winters can be brutal), plus you’ve got that independence to eat when you want, sleep when you want. nice, cozy, well equipped, close to hiking trails and ski slopes, beautiful view from the apartment, good parking place and the main cable car is in walking distance so it's a good value for money :)

This apartment is a great choice for a skiing trip! It is right next to a slope, with ski-in ski-out access. It is located on the part of the ski resort where all the red slopes are, so it is recommended for experiences skiers. Also walking distance...
