First Impressions

When I first pulled up to GORY & TYSHA Гори і Тиша in the village of Yavoriv, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. This unique boutique hotel sits nestled in the Ukrainian countryside, and — well, let me just say the photos don’t do it justice. The name literally translates to “Mountains and Silence,” which perfectly captures what you’ll find here.

The Setting

You know what struck me most? The absolute quiet. I mean, coming from the city, I’d forgotten what real silence sounds like. The hotel is tucked away in this charming village where locals still wave at strangers, and you’re surrounded by rolling hills that seem to stretch forever. It’s about an hour’s drive from Lviv, but honestly, it feels like you’ve stepped into a completely different world — one where your phone signal gets sketchy and that’s actually a good thing.

The Accommodations

My room was… actually, calling it just a room feels wrong. Each space here has its own personality, decorated with local crafts and modern touches that somehow work perfectly together. The beds are incredibly comfortable (I’m talking sink-into-it-and-disappear comfortable), and every window frames a view that changes with the light throughout the day. There’s this attention to detail that you only find in places where the owners genuinely care about your experience.

Dining Experience

The restaurant here serves some of the best Ukrainian food I’ve had outside of someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. They source ingredients locally — and I mean really locally, like from farms you can actually see from your window. The breakfast spread includes homemade breads, local honey, and these incredible eggs from chickens that roam the property. Dinner is where they really shine though, with dishes that feel both traditional and surprisingly refined.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t for everyone. If you need a bustling nightlife scene or constant entertainment, you’ll be disappointed. But if you want to disconnect, breathe deeply, and remember what it feels like to slow down, this place is perfect. The staff treats you like family — they’ll arrange hiking trails, recommend hidden spots only locals know about, and somehow always appear with tea just when you need it. It’s the kind of place where you book for two nights and end up wishing you’d planned a week.
