First Impressions

Walking up to Dom Góralski Krupówki, you immediately feel like you’re stepping into authentic mountain culture rather than just another hotel. The traditional highlander architecture isn’t some tourist gimmick — it’s the real deal, with those distinctive wooden details that make Zakopane’s buildings so recognizable. You know what struck me most? How it manages to feel both historic and welcoming without trying too hard.

Location & Neighborhood

The location on Jana Pawła II street is honestly perfect if you want to be close to Krupówki but not right in the chaos. Zakopane‘s main pedestrian street is literally a two-minute walk, which means you can grab those famous oscypek cheese snacks or browse the mountain gear shops whenever you want. But when you head back to the hotel, you actually get some peace — the street noise fades away pretty quickly.

The Room Experience

My room had this wonderful blend of highland style and modern comfort that you don’t always find in mountain towns. The wooden furnishings and traditional patterns on the textiles felt authentic, not like someone just threw together a “mountain theme.” What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details — proper lighting for reading, decent WiFi, and windows that actually open so you can get that crisp mountain air.

Dining & Atmosphere

The hotel’s restaurant serves up genuine regional dishes, and I mean the kind your Polish grandmother would approve of. The żurek soup was spot-on, and they do this incredible oscypek with cranberries that beats most of what you’ll find on Krupówki street. The dining room has this cozy, lived-in feeling where locals actually come to eat — always a good sign in my experience.

Why Guests Love It

This four-star place gets a 9.5 rating because it delivers exactly what people hope for in Zakopane without the pretense. You’re getting genuine highland hospitality, a solid base for exploring the Tatras, and that rare combination of comfort and character. Whether you’re heading up to Kasprowy Wierch or just wandering the town, you’ll actually look forward to coming back here at the end of the day.

Everything! Stayed over the Christmas period and had snow.. the house was perfect for that - very cozy and warm. A Christmas tree was set up on arrival… so festive and it had all the facilities we needed to cook dinner and have a family stay. The location was fantastic, a few minutes walk into town but so quiet and tucked away. Such a great location to get to all the activities around Zakopane. Would highly recommend.

What could be improved: I didn’t have any contact with the owners - I tried a few times but didn’t hear anything back. I was nervous the day we arrived as we were a little early and wasn’t sure if we were able to get in the house, where we would wait if not, would have been great if they had been in touch before that. There were 5 of us all with a lot of luggage esp would have been a nightmare to hang around! I got a text message 20 mins before we entered the house which was really worrying. Once in, it was fantastic and would highly recommend. Would absolutely stay there again.

Cozy, clean, nicely decorated, and has a nice little back yard. Good location if you want best access to the city’s life. It is quiet despite busy Krupowki, as it is tucked away in a more private setting from the street chaos.

Plenty of space for each person. Everyone had a corner to go to for decompression. The living room was very cozy and inviting for relaxation.

The host met us upon arrival and was very kind and helpful.

Prompt in action when we contacted her via email with questions (though never actually email back with responses for us to know she received the message).

What could be improved: Cannot see the mountains but there is nothing the owner can do about that. It doesn’t take much to leave the property to see the beauty around.

There were no hand towels for the kitchen or bathrooms. We had to buy paper towels to use for the kitchen. We had to use the body towels to use as hand towels.

There was no welcome card or instructions set out for us to look at to find out basic info about the property that other places usually have. That included no WiFi information. It took us a couple days to get that info from the host upon asking.

The master bedroom bed was broken and very uncomfortable. We shared this with our host so hopefully it will be fixed.

There were many of us in this big house but yet not enough garbage bags or toilet paper. Once we asked for more, we quickly got a small amount. We still needed to buy our own.

Despite this, it was a fantastic stay and highly recommended for vacationers. We will return!

What could be improved: Pillows could be better. Shower head was loose in the downstairs shower.

We had a great stay! The accommodation was spacious and cozy, comfortably fitting our family of 8. Beside the sleeping rooms there is a big living room where we could be together in the daytime. Secure parking was available, and the city center was very close by.

What could be improved: The coffee maker could have a larger capacity or/and a different type, too (e.g. Capsule machine).
