This four-star place sits right on the water’s edge in Teşila, and the setting is genuinely breathtaking without feeling overly polished or touristy.

What struck me most is how the house feels like it belongs here, nestled between the forested hills and the mirror-like lake. You’re about 15 minutes from the main road, which means it’s properly quiet — I mean, the kind of quiet where you can actually hear yourself think. The Doftana Lake itself is this hidden gem that locals have known about for years, but somehow it’s remained relatively undiscovered by the masses.
Inside the House
The rooms have that mountain lodge aesthetic done right — think warm wood, comfortable furnishings, and windows that frame the lake views perfectly. My room had a small balcony where I spent way too much time just watching the water change colors throughout the day. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without losing that cozy cabin feel.
Food and Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves up traditional Romanian dishes with a focus on local ingredients — their fish preparations are particularly good, which makes sense given the location. Breakfast is hearty and properly fuels you for hiking or just lounging by the water. There’s also parking right on the property, which might seem obvious but trust me, it’s not always a given in these mountain locations.
