I mean, the cable car station is practically next door, so if you’re here for skiing or hiking, you can literally roll out of bed and be on the mountain in minutes. The drive up from the main road winds through some pretty spectacular scenery, and honestly, half the fun is just getting there.

The Accommodation

The apartment I stayed in was surprisingly spacious — much bigger than the photos suggested. Each unit comes with its own kitchen, which turned out to be incredibly handy since the nearest proper grocery store requires a bit of a drive down the mountain. The furnishings strike this nice balance between rustic mountain charm and modern comfort, though don’t expect five-star polish everywhere. What you get instead is character and that cozy, lived-in feeling that actually makes you want to settle in for a few days.

Dining & Practical Matters

There’s an on-site restaurant that serves hearty Slovak mountain fare — think goulash, schnitzel, and those potato dumplings that’ll fuel you through a day on the slopes. The portions are generous (maybe too generous if you’re planning an active afternoon), and the prices are refreshingly reasonable compared to what you’d pay at the resort restaurants up the mountain. Parking is included and there’s plenty of space, which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling ski gear around.
