You’re basically at the doorstep of the High Tatras, which means you can see Lomnický štít from your window on clear days. The location on Na Kopci street is perfect — close enough to the cable car station that you can walk there, but tucked away from the main tourist crush. I mean, Veľká Lomnica itself is one of those towns that locals actually live in, not just a resort bubble.

What I really appreciated is how quiet it gets here at night. You’re surrounded by forest, and honestly, the air quality is something you notice immediately after coming from any city. The parking situation is straightforward too — no hunting around for spots like you get in some mountain towns.

The Accommodation

My room had this solid, no-nonsense feel that I actually prefer to overly decorated spaces. Good wooden furniture, proper heating (crucial in the mountains), and a bathroom that works perfectly. The beds are comfortable — not too soft, not too firm — and they’ve clearly invested in decent linens.

Some rooms come with a small kitchenette, which is honestly brilliant if you’re staying more than a couple nights. Local groceries are way cheaper than eating out for every meal, and you can stock up on Slovak specialties to take home.

The sauna here is a gem — proper hot, and they keep it well-maintained. After a day hiking or skiing, it’s exactly what you need. There’s also a small restaurant that serves traditional Slovak dishes, though I’d recommend trying different places in town too since the local dining scene is surprisingly good.

What strikes me most is how the staff actually knows the area. They’ll give you real hiking recommendations, not just point you toward the most obvious tourist trails. The owner clearly cares about the place — you can tell in small details like how everything’s properly maintained and the common areas are kept comfortable without being stuffy.
