Chalet Poarta sits tucked away on Strada Muchia Dobrogenilor, and honestly, the moment you pull up, it feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star property has that perfect mountain chalet vibe — wooden beams, traditional Romanian touches, but with modern comforts that actually work. You know what I mean? Sometimes these authentic places sacrifice function for charm, but not here.
Perfect Bran Location
The location is brilliant if you’re planning to visit Dracula’s Castle — you’re literally a few minutes away from all the action in Bran, but far enough to escape the tourist crowds when you want to unwind. I actually walked to the castle area in the morning before the buses arrived, which was incredibly peaceful. The surrounding Carpathian foothills create this dramatic backdrop that makes every photo look like a postcard.
The Accommodations
My room had that cozy mountain lodge feeling with solid wood furniture and traditional textiles, but the bathroom was completely modern — good water pressure, heated floors, the works. The beds are properly comfortable too, which matters after a day of hiking around the area. There’s something about sleeping in a chalet that just feels right, especially when you can hear the wind through the pine trees outside your window.
Dining and Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves hearty Romanian dishes that hit the spot after exploring — their ciorbă de burtă is actually excellent, and the mici are some of the best I’ve had in the region. They source a lot locally, which you can taste in everything from the cheese to the meat. Parking is included and secure, which is a relief when you’re driving mountain roads with a rental car.

What really sets Chalet Poarta apart is how it manages to feel authentic without being touristy or over-the-top themed. The staff knows the area inside and out — they pointed me toward some lesser-known hiking trails that were absolutely stunning and completely empty. With a perfect 10 rating, it’s clear other travelers appreciate the same balance of comfort, location, and genuine Romanian hospitality that made my stay memorable.
