Casa Zara Overview
First Impressions
Casa Zara sits quietly on Strada Poarta, and honestly, you might drive right past it if you’re not paying attention. The entrance is understated in that charming Romanian way — no flashy signs or grand gestures, just a beautifully restored traditional house that immediately makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. When I first walked through the door, the warm wood interiors and careful attention to local design details told me this wasn’t going to be your typical hotel experience.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re perfectly positioned here in Bran — close enough to the famous castle that you can actually walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you’ll sleep peacefully. The four-star property is tucked into a residential area where you’ll see locals going about their daily routines, which I actually prefer to being stuck in the middle of souvenir shops. There’s a small grocery store just down the street, and the mountain views from certain angles are genuinely beautiful, especially in the early morning light.
The Room Experience
My room felt more like staying in a well-designed Romanian home than a commercial hotel — which is clearly intentional. The furnishings blend traditional Transylvanian elements with modern comfort, and the bed was genuinely comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be). The bathroom was spotless and well-appointed, though not huge, which didn’t bother me at all. What really impressed me was the attention to small details: quality linens, thoughtful lighting, and little touches that showed someone actually cares about the guest experience.
Dining & Atmosphere
The breakfast situation is quite good — they serve it in what feels like a cozy dining room rather than a sterile hotel restaurant setup. Local specialties mixed with familiar options, and the staff seemed genuinely interested in making sure you were happy with everything. I mean, the 9.8 rating starts to make sense when you experience this level of personal attention. The common areas invite you to linger a bit, maybe plan your day over coffee, rather than just rushing in and out.
Why Guests Love It
Casa Zara works because it feels authentic without trying too hard. You’re getting the charm of staying in a traditional Romanian home but with the reliability and cleanliness of a well-run hotel. The location gives you easy access to Bran Castle and the surrounding area, but you’re not paying tourist-trap prices or dealing with tour bus noise. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to spend time relaxing rather than just crashing for the night — and in this part of Romania, that balance between comfort and character is surprisingly hard to find.

The views are breathtaking, there is silence all around. The house has a cozy atmosphere and we had a very relaxing time. You should know though that you need snow chains or 4x4 during snowy weather. What could be improved: The kitchen utensils were...
Minunat, ca de obicei! Un weekend relaxant într-un ambient de vis! Superba locatie!
Perfect location, far enough from everyone to hear nothing but the singing of the birds, but at the same time close to the supermarket and some touristic attractions. The house is clean and has everything you might need from shampoo and kitchen...

Lovely location with a spectacular view overlooking the mountains and the valley below. I loved just sitting on the porch listening to the silence, only birds interrupting it and occasionally a dog barking in the distance. Great spot in the heart of...
Very spacious cottage, in a remote area of Bran, amazing view and country atmosphere. Large windows, it looks even better than the photos on booking.com. Close to hiking routes, very authentic. This was an amazing stay. What could be improved: One...
The location is wonderful. The view from the property were fantastic. The host was very easy to communicate with and very responsive.
What could be improved: We found the beds uncomfortable.
The views were spectacular! It’s a quiet and relaxing place. We took our two dogs and they were quite content and at home.
What could be improved: That we had to leave so soon.🙁
