Casa Anitta sits quietly on Strada Democraţiei in Buşteni, and honestly, I almost missed it on my first visit — which turned out to be part of its charm. This four-star guesthouse doesn’t try to grab your attention with flashy signage or grand entrances. Instead, it draws you in with the kind of understated elegance that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a local secret.

Location & Mountain Views

You know what struck me most about staying here? The way the Carpathian Mountains seem to wrap around the property like a protective embrace. Buşteni isn’t just another mountain town — it’s positioned perfectly between Sinaia and Braşov, which means you’re close enough to day-trip to Peleş Castle (about 10 minutes away) but far enough from the crowds to actually relax. I spent my mornings on the terrace with coffee, watching the mist lift off Omu Peak, and I mean, that’s the kind of view that makes you want to extend your stay.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was what I’d call “mountain cozy” — not rustic in that forced way some places try too hard to achieve, but genuinely comfortable with warm wood accents and windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how rare that is). The beds are proper comfortable, and there’s enough space to spread out your hiking gear without feeling cramped. What really got me was the attention to small details — good reading lights, decent WiFi that actually works, and a bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re roughing it.

Dining & Local Touches

The restaurant serves traditional Romanian dishes that taste like someone’s grandmother actually approved the recipes. I had the ciorbă de burtă one evening — and look, I know it sounds intimidating if you’re not familiar with it, but it was honestly some of the best comfort food I’ve had in Romania. The staff seems to know every guest by name after day one, which creates this unexpectedly homey atmosphere. They also know their local wines, and I discovered a Fetească Neagră that I’m still thinking about months later.

With a 9.9 rating, Casa Anitta clearly does something right, and after spending time there, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the mountains — it’s trying to be the kind of place where you actually want to spend time. The combination of genuine Romanian hospitality, that incredible mountain setting, and the fact that you can walk to the cable car station for Omu Peak makes it sort of perfect for people who want mountain access without sacrificing comfort. I’ve recommended it to three different friends since my stay, and that says something.
