First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Apartments Huty, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this mountain retreat in northern Slovakia. The building sits quietly in the village of Huty, looking more like a well-designed mountain lodge than your typical hotel. You know what struck me right away? The complete silence — no city noise, no traffic hum, just the sound of wind through the trees and maybe a distant cowbell.

Location & Setting

This four-star property is tucked into one of those Slovak villages that feels completely removed from the modern world, yet you’re actually just a short drive from the Polish border. The Tatra Mountains rise up around you, and I mean literally — step outside and you’re looking at peaks that’ll make your Instagram followers properly jealous. What I didn’t expect was how easy it is to reach hiking trails from here, or that the village itself has this authentic mountain culture that tourism hasn’t really touched yet.

The Apartment Experience

Here’s where things get interesting — you’re not getting a standard hotel room, but an actual apartment with space to breathe. My unit had a proper kitchen (not just a mini-fridge situation), which turned out to be brilliant since the local grocery in the village stocks amazing Slovak specialties. The furnishings feel contemporary but not sterile, and honestly, the mountain views from the windows are worth the stay alone. I spent way too much time just sitting by the window with coffee, watching the light change on those peaks.

Amenities & Comfort

The property includes a sauna, which — let me tell you — feels absolutely perfect after a day of hiking in the Tatras. There’s also parking right on-site, which matters more than you’d think when you’re carrying hiking gear and supplies. The whole setup feels designed for people who want to actually experience this region rather than just pass through it. WiFi works fine (I had to check emails, unfortunately), but you’ll probably find yourself using it less than usual.

Why Guests Love It

With an 8.8 rating, this place clearly gets something right, and I think it’s the combination of genuine mountain atmosphere with actual comfort. You’re not roughing it, but you’re also not stuck in some generic chain hotel. The staff knows the area inside and out — they pointed me toward hiking routes I never would’ve found otherwise. It’s the kind of place where you can cook your own meals if you want, explore authentic Slovak mountain culture, and still come back to a properly comfortable bed and that amazing sauna.
