Tucked away in the Carpathian foothills near Yablunytsya, GORGANY resort & SPA feels like someone’s well-kept secret. The drive up through the pine forests is honestly half the experience — you wind through these mountain roads and suddenly there’s this modern resort complex that somehow doesn’t look out of place among all the natural beauty. It’s got that sleek, contemporary vibe without being too flashy, which I appreciated.

You’re staying in what feels like the middle of nowhere (in the best possible way), but Yablunytsya is actually just a short drive if you need anything. The four-star property sits at this perfect elevation where you get mountain vistas without feeling completely isolated from civilization.

Rooms and Amenities

The room I stayed in had floor-to-ceiling windows that made the most of that forest backdrop. Everything felt thoughtfully designed, from the locally-inspired wood accents to the modern bathroom fixtures. The beds are seriously comfortable — I’m talking about that perfect firmness that actually lets you sleep well after a day of hiking or skiing. There’s reliable Wi-Fi throughout, which honestly surprised me given how remote it feels.

Spa and Dining Experience

The spa here is where GORGANY resort & SPA really shines. They’ve got this whole wellness setup with treatments that incorporate local ingredients — I tried a honey and pine treatment that left my skin feeling amazing. The main restaurant serves a mix of traditional Carpathian dishes and more contemporary options, and they clearly source ingredients locally. The borscht was legitimately some of the best I’ve had in Ukraine, and the trout dishes showcase what’s fresh from nearby streams.
