Torres Poiana sits right in the heart of Poiana Brasov, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re here for the mountains. This four-star property has that understated mountain lodge feel — not trying too hard to impress, but you can tell they’ve put thought into the details. The building itself fits perfectly with the alpine setting, and when I walked in, there was this immediate sense that I’d found somewhere genuinely comfortable rather than just another ski resort hotel.

You know what struck me most? How close everything actually is. The ski slopes are practically at your doorstep, and if you’re not into skiing, the hiking trails start right from the hotel area. I mean, Poiana Brasov isn’t huge, but Torres Poiana is positioned so you can walk to the main cable car in about three minutes. During summer, you’ll find yourself stepping out for evening walks without even planning it — the forest paths are just there, calling to you.

My room had this perfect balance of mountain charm and modern comfort. The windows frame the surrounding peaks beautifully, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in properly. The bathrooms are modern and well-designed, with powerful showers that feel amazing after outdoor activities.

The hotel’s restaurant serves both Romanian mountain cuisine and international dishes, and they do both well. I particularly loved their take on traditional sarmale and the hearty soups that hit perfectly after cold mountain days. Breakfast has everything you need for fuel before hitting the trails or slopes — fresh bread, local cheeses, and surprisingly good coffee. The dining area has these large windows that make every meal feel like you’re still connected to the outdoors.
