Villa Melania Overview
First Impressions
Villa Melania sits tucked away on a quiet street in Azuga, and honestly, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking. The entrance has this understated elegance that immediately tells you this isn’t your typical mountain lodge — it’s something more refined. I mean, the moment you step inside, there’s this sense that someone actually thought about every detail, from the warm lighting to the way the lobby flows into the common areas.
Mountain Town Magic
Azuga itself is one of those Romanian mountain towns that feels like a well-kept secret. You’re literally in the heart of the Prahova Valley, with the Bucegi Mountains rising up around you like natural walls. What I love about staying here is that you can walk to the cable car station in about five minutes — no shuttles, no hassle. The town has this authentic feel that some of the bigger resort areas have lost, and Villa Melania fits right into that vibe.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had these large windows that frame the mountain views perfectly — you know what I mean, the kind where you actually want to keep the curtains open. The design walks this nice line between traditional Romanian touches and modern comfort, without feeling forced or theme-park-ish. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a mountain property, and the bed… well, after a day of hiking or skiing, it felt like exactly what you’d want to sink into.
Dining and Daily Life
The restaurant downstairs serves this mix of Romanian mountain cuisine and international dishes that actually works. I had the ciorbă de burtă one evening (don’t knock it ’til you try it), and it was honestly some of the best I’ve had outside of Bucharest. Breakfast is solid too — fresh local ingredients, proper coffee, and they’ll pack you something to take if you’re heading out early for the mountains. There’s also convenient parking right on-site, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with mountain weather.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star property gets the balance right between being polished and maintaining that personal touch you want in a smaller hotel. The staff knows the area — like, really knows it — so they can point you toward the hiking trails tourists don’t find or tell you which slopes have the best conditions. With an 8.8 rating, Villa Melania has clearly figured out how to make guests feel like they’ve discovered something special rather than just booked another mountain hotel. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to plan your next Carpathian adventure before you’ve even checked out.

A fost f curat si gazdele f amabile. Acces usor cu masina, aproape de centru si magazine. Foarte potrivit pt reuniuni de familie, este o locatie f spatoasa. Interiorul arata mai bine ca in poze. Este o zona linistita si pitoreasca, potrivita pt...
What could be improved: Bazinul vasului de toaletă de la parter defect. Nu a fost curățenie. Grătarul de afară nu avea stabilitate iar tabla din ele măcinată (nu este de făcut grătar în el). Baia de...
