There’s a small grocery store just down the street where the owner will chat with you in broken English, and I found this little bakery that opens ridiculously early and sells the most incredible covrigi. You know what? Sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you’re not surrounded by other tourists.

The apartment is larger than I expected — and I mean actually spacious, not just “spacious for Europe” spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped (I made dinner there twice), and honestly, after weeks of restaurant meals, being able to cook something simple felt amazing. The living area has this comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you want to curl up with a book, and the bedroom is quiet — which matters more than you think when you’re trying to recover from travel fatigue.

What impressed me most were the thoughtful touches throughout. The shower has excellent water pressure (seriously, this isn’t guaranteed everywhere in Romania), and there’s actually good Wi-Fi in every room — I was working remotely part of the time and never had connection issues. The parking situation is sorted too, which removes that whole stress of driving around looking for a spot. Little things, but they add up to making your stay actually comfortable instead of just adequate.
