When I first pulled up to The Pines Bucegi Lodge, I honestly wasn’t prepared for just how stunning this place would be. Nestled in the Carpathian Mountains near Bran, this five-star property feels more like a luxury retreat than a traditional hotel. The wooden façade and stone accents blend so perfectly with the surrounding pine forest that it almost seems like the lodge grew out of the mountainside itself.

Mornings are particularly special when the mist rolls through the valleys and you can hear nothing but birdsong from your private balcony.

My room was genuinely impressive — spacious, elegantly furnished with locally-sourced wood and stone, and equipped with every luxury amenity you could want. The beds are incredibly comfortable (I’m talking cloud-level comfort), and the bathrooms feature both rainfall showers and deep soaking tubs. What I loved most was the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the mountain views like living artwork. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the heated floors to the complimentary local honey and tea selection.

The on-site restaurant serves some of the best Romanian cuisine I’ve had, with a modern twist that doesn’t lose the traditional soul. Their game dishes are exceptional — I mean, where else can you enjoy venison while overlooking the very forests where it roamed? After dinner, the spa facilities are absolutely divine. The wellness center includes a sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms where they use locally-sourced pine and herb-infused products that leave you feeling completely rejuvenated.
