The name sounds grand, but the location felt refreshingly residential — more like discovering a hidden gem than checking into a typical tourist hotel. Buşteni isn’t exactly on every traveler’s radar, which is precisely why I loved staying here. You’re in the heart of the Carpathians, with Omu Peak looming in the distance, but you’re not dealing with the crowds you’d find in Brașov or Sinaia. The villa sits in a spot where you can actually hear the mountains — I mean that literally, the way sound carries differently up here. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the cable car station if you’re planning to hit Omu or explore the ridges.

My room had this unexpectedly modern feel that somehow worked perfectly with the mountain setting. The windows frame the peaks in a way that makes you want to just sit there with your morning coffee — and trust me, I did exactly that more than once. They do a particularly good ciorbă de burtă if you’re feeling adventurous, and their mici are better than you’d expect from a hotel kitchen.
