You know what caught me off guard about BLACK & WHITE HOUSES? The name actually makes perfect sense once you see it — these striking monochrome buildings sit against the dramatic backdrop of the Pieniny Mountains like something out of a minimalist design magazine. The four-star property feels more intimate than I expected, honestly — it’s not trying to be some massive resort, which I appreciated right away.

Location & Setting

I mean, Niedzica isn’t exactly on everyone’s radar, but that’s sort of the point. You’re literally minutes from Niedzica Castle (which you can actually see from some rooms), and the whole area feels like stepping into a fairytale without the tourist crowds. The Dunajec River winds through the valley below, and if you’re into hiking or just want to escape city noise, this spot delivers. Plus, you can walk to the castle ruins — no need for complicated transport arrangements.

The Rooms

The room I stayed in kept that black-and-white theme going, but it didn’t feel gimmicky at all. Clean lines, solid furniture, and — here’s what matters — everything actually worked perfectly. The bathroom was modern, the bed was comfortable, and there’s decent WiFi if you need to check in with the outside world. What I really liked was the attention to small details — proper reading lights, enough outlets, space to actually unpack your stuff.

Dining & Amenities

The on-site restaurant serves up Polish mountain cuisine that’s honestly better than I expected from a smaller property. They do this excellent oscypek (local sheep cheese) that pairs perfectly with their house wine selection. Breakfast included fresh local ingredients — none of that generic continental buffet nonsense. There’s also a spa area that’s compact but well-equipped, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the region.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.8 rating starts to make sense when you realize this place gets all the fundamentals right — comfortable beds, genuinely helpful staff, and a location that feels special without being isolated. It’s the kind of place where you can have an active mountain adventure during the day, then settle in somewhere that actually feels like a retreat. The whole experience feels thoughtfully put together rather than just thrown together for tourists.
