Casa Liana Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Casa Liana on Strada Ciocârliei, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star guesthouse tucked into Buşteni. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come in unassuming packages. The traditional Romanian architecture immediately caught my eye — it’s got that authentic mountain charm without feeling like it’s trying too hard to be quaint.
Location & Mountain Access
Here’s the thing about Buşteni that most travelers don’t realize until they get here — it’s perfectly positioned between Brașov and Ploiești, which means you’re not stuck in tourist trap central, but you’re still close to everything that matters. The Bucegi Mountains literally rise up behind the property, and I mean literally — step out the back and you’re already thinking about hiking trails. The cable car to Omu Peak is just a short walk away, which saved me the hassle of driving around looking for parking spots during peak season.
The Room Experience
My room was larger than I expected, with these lovely wooden touches that felt authentically Romanian rather than mass-produced hotel generic. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in mountain accommodations), and the bathroom had proper water pressure — something I’ve learned not to take for granted in smaller Romanian towns. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re not completely isolated from civilization.
Breakfast & Local Touches
The breakfast spread genuinely reflects the region — none of that international buffet nonsense you get at chain hotels. I’m talking fresh local bread, mountain honey, and cheese that actually tastes like it came from nearby farms rather than a wholesale distributor. The owners clearly know their suppliers, and it shows in the quality. Plus, they’ll happily point you toward the best local hiking routes if you ask — the kind of insider knowledge you can’t get from guidebooks.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.3 rating, Casa Liana has figured out something important — it delivers exactly what mountain travelers actually want rather than what hotels think they want. The staff treats you like a guest in their home rather than a transaction, and the location gives you that authentic Carpathian experience without sacrificing comfort. It’s the sort of place where you’ll find yourself extending your stay because you realize you’ve stumbled onto something genuinely good, not just convenient.
