First Impressions

You know what really caught me off guard about Na Jezérkách? The name literally means “by the ponds,” and I honestly thought it might be some cheesy marketing thing until I actually got there. This unique boutique hotel sits in the tiny village of Vacenovice, and when I say tiny, I mean you’ll blink and miss it — but that’s exactly the point. The whole property feels like someone’s incredibly stylish country house that they decided to share with the world.

The Setting

Vacenovice is tucked away in South Moravian wine country, about 40 minutes from Brno if you’re coming from somewhere with an actual airport. The landscape here is all rolling hills and vineyards, which sounds clichéd but actually delivers when you’re sipping coffee on their terrace in the morning. I mean, you’re genuinely surrounded by working farms and those ponds they named the place after — it’s the kind of quiet that city people forget exists.

The Room

My room was in what used to be a traditional Moravian farmhouse, completely renovated but keeping all the character that matters. Think exposed beams, but with underfloor heating and a rainfall shower that actually has decent water pressure. The beds are ridiculously comfortable — I’m talking about that perfect firmness that doesn’t leave you wondering if you should have packed ibuprofen. Each space has its own personality too; some have little reading nooks, others have views straight out to the countryside.

Food & Drink

The restaurant here operates more like a chef’s table experience than a typical hotel dining room. They work with local producers — and I mean literally the farm down the road — so the menu changes based on what’s actually in season. The wine list focuses heavily on Moravian varieties, which was perfect since I’d never really explored Czech wines before. Honestly, their Grüner Veltliner was a revelation, and the sommelier actually knew the winemaker personally.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll find a spa with fifteen treatment rooms or parking for tour buses — and that’s exactly why it works so well. The rating of 9.8 makes sense when you realize they’re doing something completely different from the standard boutique hotel playbook. It’s intimate without being precious, sophisticated without being stuffy. You’ll probably end up chatting with other guests over breakfast because there’s this natural community feeling that just happens when a place is run with genuine care rather than corporate efficiency.
