The village itself is tiny — maybe 500 people — but there’s something peaceful about staying somewhere that locals haven’t abandoned for bigger cities. You’ll see kids riding bikes after school and elderly folks tending their gardens, which feels pretty authentic.

The Room Experience

My room was surprisingly spacious for a village guesthouse, with wooden furniture that looked handcrafted rather than mass-produced. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in smaller Slovak accommodations), and they’ve managed to add modern touches like decent WiFi without ruining the traditional atmosphere. The bathroom was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is what you really need after a long day of exploring.

The restaurant downstairs serves proper Slovak comfort food, and I mean that in the best possible way. Their goulash is the real deal — thick, hearty, and perfect after hiking in the nearby hills. The portions are generous (maybe too generous if you’re not used to Central European serving sizes), and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. They also serve local wines that you won’t find in tourist areas, which gives you a chance to try something genuinely regional.
