When I first pulled up to Antošíkov majer, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a place tucked away in the hills around Banská Štiavnica. The building has this charming, almost fairy-tale quality — it’s clearly been lovingly restored, and you can tell someone really cared about preserving its original character. The setting is just peaceful in that way that makes you immediately slow down and breathe a little deeper.

Location & Setting

You know what’s great about staying here? You’re close enough to explore Banská Štiavnica’s medieval streets and mining heritage, but far enough out to feel like you’ve escaped the world entirely. The three-star property sits in this lovely rural area where you can actually hear birds instead of traffic. I mean, if you’re looking for nightlife and shopping, this isn’t your spot — but if you want to disconnect and recharge, it’s pretty much perfect.

The Accommodation

My room was simple but really well thought out. Everything felt clean and comfortable without being fancy — which honestly matched the whole vibe of the place. The beds are proper comfortable, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What I appreciated most was how quiet it was at night; you can actually open the windows and sleep with fresh air flowing through.

Food & Dining

The breakfast situation here is solid — nothing groundbreaking, but fresh and filling with some local touches that show they’re not just phoning it in. They’ve got a small restaurant on-site, which is handy because you’re not exactly surrounded by dining options out here. The staff seems to know their way around traditional Slovak dishes, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming.

Look, this place has a 9.6 rating for good reason. It’s one of those spots where everything just works without trying too hard. The owners clearly understand that sometimes travelers just want a clean, comfortable place to stay where they can relax and maybe explore a bit of authentic Slovakia. There’s parking right on-site, which takes away that stress of figuring out where to leave your car. Plus, the value is excellent — you’re getting a genuinely pleasant experience without paying premium prices. It’s the kind of place I’d actually recommend to friends, especially if they’re doing a road trip through this part of Slovakia and want something more interesting than a generic chain hotel.
