First Impressions

Apartmány RESIDENCE caught me off guard in the best possible way. Tucked into the slopes of Donovaly, this four-star gem feels more like staying at a friend’s exceptionally well-appointed mountain retreat than a traditional hotel. The moment you pull up, you realize this isn’t your typical ski resort accommodation — the building has this clean, modern Alpine aesthetic that somehow feels both sophisticated and completely unpretentious.

Location & Mountain Access

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally in the heart of Donovaly ski area, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming or touristy. The slopes are right there when you want them, but you also get these incredible mountain views that make you want to just sit with your coffee and stare. I mean, the Low Tatras don’t mess around when it comes to scenery. What’s really nice is how quiet it gets in the evenings, especially compared to some of the busier Slovak mountain resorts I’ve stayed at.

The Apartment Experience

Each apartment here is basically what you’d design if you were building your own mountain getaway. The spaces are generous — actually generous, not hotel-generous — with full kitchens that you’ll want to use. The kitchen setup includes everything you need, which honestly saved me a fortune on resort dining. The living areas have these big windows that frame the mountain views perfectly, and the bedrooms are quiet enough that you’ll sleep through anything.

Amenities That Actually Matter

The wellness area deserves a mention because it’s not trying to be some massive spa complex — it’s just really well done. The sauna hits the spot after a day on the slopes, and there’s this relaxation area where you can actually hear yourself think. Parking is included and covered, which you’ll appreciate when it’s snowing sideways outside. They’ve also got ski storage that’s heated, so your boots aren’t frozen solid in the morning.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.6 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s the combination of having real space to spread out, being steps from the ski lifts, and dealing with staff who clearly care about getting the details right. You know what really impressed me? The little things — like how they stock the apartments with quality basics, or how the heating system actually works properly (not always a given in mountain accommodations). Families love the extra room and privacy, while couples appreciate how peaceful it feels. The value is honestly exceptional for what you get, especially compared to similar places in more famous Alpine destinations.
