Being in Bystrá puts you right at the base of the Jasná ski resort area, which locals know is one of Slovakia’s best-kept secrets. The Chopok cable car is maybe a 10-minute drive away, so you can be on the slopes or hiking trails without dealing with resort town crowds. What’s nice is that Tale itself has a few decent restaurants and a small grocery store — you’re not completely isolated, but you definitely feel removed from everything.
