The room I stayed in was simple but thoughtfully arranged — wooden floors, mountain views, and that kind of quiet you can only find in places like this. Tomas, the owner, actually lives nearby and treats guests more like visiting relatives than customers. You know what impressed me most? The way he casually mentioned the best hiking trails over breakfast, drawing little maps on napkins like it was nothing special.

If you’re into hiking, this place is gold. The trailheads start practically from the front door, and I mean proper mountain trails — not those overcrowded tourist paths you find elsewhere. The route to Roháčske plesá takes about three hours and honestly changed my perspective on Slovak mountains entirely. After a day on the trails, coming back to the chalupa feels like returning to your mountain home rather than just another hotel.
