Once I figured that out, though, I was pleasantly surprised by how modern and well-maintained everything looked. This three-star place has clearly been updated recently, and it shows.

Location and the Štrba Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in Štrba — you’re close enough to the High Tatras action but without the crowds and inflated prices of places like Starý Smokovec. The train station is maybe a 10-minute walk, which means you can easily hop over to Štrbské Pleso or even venture into the mountains proper. I mean, if you’re planning day trips to the peaks, this location actually makes more sense than staying right in the tourist zones.

The Space Itself

The room — well, it’s really more of a studio setup — felt bigger than I expected from the photos. There’s a proper kitchenette with everything you need if you want to grab groceries and cook something simple. The bed was comfortable enough, and honestly, the whole place just felt clean and functional. Nothing fancy, but you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re spending most of your time hiking anyway.

Practical Considerations

The wellness aspect is a nice touch — there’s access to a sauna, which was perfect after a long day on the trails. Parking is available, and trust me, you’ll want a car if you’re staying here. Public transport exists, but having your own wheels gives you so much more flexibility for exploring the region. The 8.9 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just a solid, reliable place to crash.
