You’re basically in the heart of the Tatras here, which means you can actually walk to several trailheads without having to drive anywhere. Tatranská Polianka is one of those smaller resort villages that doesn’t get as crazy busy as some other spots in the mountains. The funicular to Skalnaté pleso is close enough that you’ll hear it running during the day, and that’s your ticket to some serious high-altitude hiking.

The Room Experience

My room was pretty standard but clean — pine furniture, decent-sized windows looking out toward the forest, and a bathroom that actually had good water pressure (not always a given in mountain hotels, you know). The beds are comfortable enough after a long day of hiking, and there’s adequate storage space for all your gear. Nothing fancy, but everything works as it should.

The hotel restaurant serves typical Slovak mountain fare — think hearty portions of goulash, schnitzel, and local trout. I mean, it’s not going to win any culinary awards, but after spending the day on the trails, those dumplings hit differently.
