When I first pulled up to Apartmán TATRAFUN in Tatranská Lomnica, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a simple apartment building. But you know what they say about books and covers. This four-star property turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special that most tourists just walk right past.

Location & Mountain Views

The location is actually brilliant if you’re here for the Tatras experience. You’re literally in the heart of Tatranská Lomnica, which means the cable car to Lomnický štít is just a short walk away — I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be on the mountain. The ski slopes are right there too, and after a long day on the trails, you’ll appreciate not having to trek back to some distant hotel. Plus, there’s this great view of the peaks from most of the windows that honestly never gets old.

The Apartment

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel room. There’s a proper kitchenette where you can actually cook a decent meal (which is great because eating out every night in mountain resorts gets expensive fast). The space is modern and clean, with that Scandinavian-meets-Slovak-mountains vibe that somehow works perfectly. I was surprised by how thoughtfully everything was laid out — even the bathroom has this rainfall shower that feels pretty indulgent after a day of hiking.

What I really appreciated were the little things that show someone actually thinks about what travelers need. The Wi-Fi is solid (important when you’re sharing those mountain photos), and there’s decent parking right outside — which anyone who’s driven in Slovak mountain towns will tell you is not always guaranteed. The hosts are locals who actually know the area, so you get real recommendations, not just the standard tourist stuff. They pointed me toward this amazing traditional restaurant that I never would have found otherwise.
