What I love about staying here is that you’re literally minutes from some of the best hiking trails and ski slopes in Veľká Lomnica. The Skalnaté pleso cable car is practically next door, which means you can be up in the mountains before most tourists have finished their morning coffee. The village itself is charming — not overly developed like some resort towns, but with enough restaurants and shops to keep things interesting.

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious, with those thick wooden beams and mountain views that make you want to just sit by the window with a book. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in mountain hotels), and the bathroom was modern without losing that rustic charm. I mean, you’ve got heated floors — which is brilliant when you’re coming back from winter activities.

The restaurant serves traditional Slovak dishes alongside more international options, and their goulash is genuinely excellent. Breakfast has a good spread of local items — proper Slovak cheese, fresh bread, and coffee that’s strong enough to fuel a mountain hike.
