What I really appreciate is the parking situation — it’s actually sorted, unlike some mountain hotels where you’re hauling luggage uphill for ages. The train station is walkable too, which matters if you’re coming from Poprad or planning day trips.

My room had this great balance of mountain views and modern comfort. The windows are generous, so you wake up to proper Tatras scenery — not just a glimpse of trees like some places promise. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are well-designed with good water pressure. You know what impressed me? The little details like proper lighting for reading and enough outlets for your devices. It sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.

Food & Atmosphere

The restaurant focuses on Slovak mountain cuisine with some modern touches — think hearty but not heavy. Their goulash is proper comfort food after a day hiking, and they actually do a decent job with lighter options too. Breakfast has local touches like sheep cheese and proper Slovak bread, plus the usual international bits. The dining area has these big windows facing the mountains, so even meals feel connected to the landscape outside.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.5 rating makes sense when you spend time here. It’s the kind of place that gets the mountain experience right without being pretentious about it. The staff knows the area well — they’ll point you toward lesser-known trails or explain the best times to catch the cog railway. You’re close enough to the action (Štrbské Pleso gets busy in peak season) but far enough away that evenings feel peaceful. I mean, you can sit outside with a beer and just listen to the mountains settling down for the night. That’s worth something, especially after dealing with crowded tourist spots all day.
