The hotel is literally steps from the water, which means you can grab your morning coffee and be lakeside in under two minutes. The cable car to Solisko is just a short walk away too, so if you’re into hiking or just want those Instagram-worthy mountain views, you’re set.

What I appreciated was the spa area, which isn’t huge but has everything you need after a day of hiking: sauna, small pool, and treatment rooms. The whole setup feels more boutique than resort-y, if that makes sense. There’s also parking right at the hotel, which honestly saves you the headache of finding a spot during peak season.

Look, Štrbské Pleso can get touristy, especially in summer and ski season, but Hotel CROCUS manages to feel like a bit of a retreat from all that. The staff actually knows the area — they gave me trail recommendations that weren’t just the obvious ones, and their timing estimates were spot-on. With a 9.1 rating, it’s clear other guests feel the same way. It’s not the cheapest option around the lake, but for the combination of location, comfort, and that personal touch, it’s worth the extra euros.
